Trey has been ramping up activity lately with a new album and tour dates on the horizon. Here's one of his more accessible songs, performed live in Chicago in 2003. I hope you enjoy "Drifting."

Fair Warning

No, this isn't a Van Halen-related entry. It's fair warning to visitors that things will be a bit sporadic here until early next week. I'm taking a few days off and traveling to Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY with some family and close friends. We'll be camping on the mountain and I've heard cell/wireless data coverage is spotty, so updates may be non-existent.

If I have coverage, then most of my updates will be on twitter. Follow me if you're interested. I'll try to provide news from the concert field and maybe even sneak in a blog post by the campfire! We'll see about that one.

I have some exciting news coming up next week so be sure not to wander too far...

Gov't Mule - Brand New Angel

We'll be traveling to Hunter, NY for Mountain Jam in a few weeks with a couple other families. The annual festival is produced by Warren Haynes. His band, Gov't Mule, play two of the festival's three nights. We're getting pretty excited for 3 days of music and camping in upstate New York so I'll be featuring more sounds of Mountain Jam over the next couple weeks on this site. Starting at the top, here's the opening song from Gov't Mule's last New Year's Eve show in New York. I hope you enjoy "Brand New Angel."

Phish - Theme From the Bottom

I've wanted to include more Phish in my music postings. Today, I twittered with @andykaufman about the most important year in Phishtory - 1997. After that, I knew I needed to post SOMETHING from '97, so here's a brief glimpse from Phish's historic New Year's Eve 97-98 run at Madison Square Garden. I hope you enjoy "Theme From the Bottom" from December 29, 1997.

Solar Fields - Brainbow

I downloaded a bunch of new music before I left for Phoenix on Wednesday. I did some experimenting and was rewarded by getting turned on to the Solar Fields. Here's "Brainbow" from their Earth Shine album. Warning: if you don't like electronic/rave/trance music, then this song is probably not for you. Otherwise, enjoy!

Phish - Foam, Live from Miami

This song came on the mp3 player during my run tonight. It took me back a few years, thinking of a band ahead of its time, yet fully aware of its context and place in history. Phish was THE band of the 90's. Forget Nirvana. Forget Pearl Jam. I'm a big fan of both bands but when it came to churning out extraordinary, insane and unbelievably rocking live shows, Phish was the Alpha and the Omega. There was no other live band that mattered for several years.

"Foam" popped up on my run tonight and while this performance is not from the 90's, it does capture some of the magic, energy and joy that was at the core of what Phish was all about. I hope you enjoy "Foam" recorded live in Miami, Florida on December 29, 2003.

I have a feeling this may result in a more in-depth look at Phish's live catalog on this web site. I hope you'll stay tuned.

Music 2.0 Defined

A great video about the drive to open up the music industry and redefine the business of music to the benefit of artists and fans. What a concept.

Dan Wilson Talks About Free Life

I've quickly become a big Dan Wilson fan, and while his marketing and PR could use a little help (Dan, call me!), his songwriting is just perfect. Here's his "Electronic Press Kit" - basically, a discussion about Dan's brilliant new-ish release, Free Life. Enjoy.
