Holiday Wrap-Up

Well, another holiday season is about to conclude. This was our first Christmas back on the east coast after 13 years in Arizona. We certainly enjoyed being able to easily visit family and friends around the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area. Now, onto New Year's and 2008 - lots to be excited about in the upcoming year, but there's still a couple things to look forward to in 2007, including Gov't Mule and Keller Williams this Friday at the Beacon in New York.

Gov't Mule at the Beacon Theatre in New York - December 28th

I'm going to see Gov't Mule on Friday, the 28th with my brother and a close friend. Keller Williams is opening the show. VERY psyched.

Dropping Some NYC

I had the opportunity to visit New York City with a couple close friends on Monday and Tuesday. Growing up, I went to the city often. First it was circuses and cultural events with family, then sporting events which eventually gave way to concerts and night life. This was my second time in New York following the big move last summer, and I can't wait to get back as frequently as possible.

The improvised agenda for my recent trip there began at Westville East for dinner (get the cheesecake!), then proceeded to Blue and Gold - a great local dive bar in the East Village with a pool table and, at least when we were there, free spins on the jukebox. We finished the night at 7B, on the south side of Tompkins Square - a fun bar with a great history including the filming of Cocktail, Godfather II and Serpico and other movies. 7B also had a great gaggle of fun holiday decorations!

As I pulled onto 2nd Avenue this morning making my way to the Holland Tunnel, I glanced over and saw the famous Nightingale. Another flood of memories came rushing back and I immediately thought of this:

Come on everybody take a trip with us
Gonna raise some hell gonna raise a fuss
Cost you a dollar if you care to see
So just belly on up and tell me what'll it be

I've got a little something that I don't think you've tried

No need to run, no need to hide
Just take a little taste and tell me, what do you see
'Cause tonight we're gonna drop a little NYC

Having some fun, well, all of us are
Everyone around you's gonna be a star
'Cause it's the best and the worst, and it's life out loud
Don't mind if I preach; don't wanna get too proud

It's hard to be humble when it's all at your feet
And someday soon, it's gonna leave the street
They say the truth shall set you free
Well you're on parole when you're on NYC
